Chopped Jr.: The Call
To say I’m proud of Jenna’s Kitchen accomplishments would be an understatement. I do not think I could have planned anything better than what has already happened since Jan 2016 when we posted her first video on her YouTube Channel.
It was just another Friday afternoon at the office, when I got a call from New York. I didn’t recognize the number and usually I do not answer but for some reason I thought, maybe I should this time. “Hi I’m Ryan, and was just watching Jenna’s meatloaf video and just wondered if she had ever thought about auditioning for Chopped Jr.” Long pause on my part because I wasn’t for sure if this was a joke or someone just messing with me. So I said, “uhhh, no.” For someone who speaks for a living you would think that I could have come up with something better than that but, “uhhh, no.” Actually it ran through my mind to tell him no, because honestly that show makes me nervous! I mean you give kids, chocolate covered crickets, cotton candy, dandelion greens, beets and 30 minutes to create an appetizer. WHAT? I told Ryan I would go home and talk with Jenna and let him know on Monday. Jenna without hesitation said YES! Ryan set up a skype interview and a year later, we have an air date!
It has been an educational experience filled with all kinds of emotions! The best has been watching God’s plan unfold. It had his plan all over it because of the way it happened, the curves along the way and I cannot wait to see where it will lead next. I hope to be able to share all of our experiences over the next few weeks!
Be sure to tune into Food Network for Chopped Jr. August 29th at 7 pm central time.
